One Woman’s Testimony, August, 2000

I would like to share with you how my life was and is changing through Jesus Christ. I was married to a verbally and physically abusive man. The abuse started two days after we were married and progressively got worse until he beat me while trying to kidnap me. He told me I was ugly, fat, dumb, and that nobody but him would ever want me. He isolated me from my family and friends. After a while, I began to believe the lies that he was telling me.

I felt helpless. I had just begun a relationship with Jesus. During this time, I turned to my Bible and read. God spoke to me. He told me I was His child and that He would take of me. He showed me through the life of Jesus how much He loved me and how much He cared for me. I am a little child in His eyes and He is my loving Father. I gave my problems over to Jesus and He has never let me down. He has continued to keep me safe and to provide for me. Most of all He loves me and He loves you too.
